Q:Hello! I had a question about trying to get into the animation industry. Obviously you need plenty of life drawing experience, but what if you are having trouble affording life drawing classes or a good model? Could drawing anatomically correct sculptures like Michelangelo's David (not that I live anywhere near that statue, unfortunately...) in a museum or something count as life drawing and anatomy study? Or does that not work since the sculptures aren't, you know, alive?
Best thing that works for me is to just draw what’s around you. Draw your friends, family, pets, or even your own hands or feet! The most important priority is to make your drawings have a sense of life; and what’s more alive then your own life experience! For me, it’s been more valuable to draw from my own life then from a model in a classroom~
